The interpretive texts of national parks are an essential part of their cultural resources, as they bear the function of autonomous encoding of resources and proactive interpretation of meanings, making them one of the carriers of national discourse. The English translation of the texts is not only a practice of cross-cultural exchanges but also a significant field for shaping the country’s cultural image and constructing external discourse. Taking the English translation of the “Interpretive Text of the Pudacuo National Park” as an example, this paper deeply analyzes the phenomenon of the cultural defaults in the interpretive text, featuring a broad coverage of background knowledge and profound cultural connotations. It explores corresponding translation compensation strategies to reproduce the cultural charm and aesthetic value of the original text, thereby independently constructing a national discourse system and presenting a positive national image.
