Investigation of GEM-Micromegas detector on X-ray beam of synchrotron radiation

To reduce the discharge of the standard bulk Micromegas and GEM detectors, a GEM-Micromegas detector was developed at the Institute of High Energy Physics. Taking into account the advantages of the two detectors, one GEM foil was set as a preamplifier on the mesh of Micromegas in the structure and the GEM preamplification decreased the working voltage of Micromegas to significantly reduce the effect of the discharge. At the same gain, the spark probability of the GEM-Micromegas detector can be reduced to a factor 0.01 compared to the standard Micromegas detector, and an even higher gain could be obtained. This paper describes the performance of the X-ray beam detector that was studied at 1W2B Laboratory of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Finally, the result of the energy resolution under various X-ray energies was given in different working gases. This indicates that the GEM-Micromegas detector has an energy response capability in an energy range from 6 keV to 20 keV and it could work better than the standard bulk-Micromegas.

高通量下GEM探测器高压供电模式研究被引量:1

GEM探测器的供电一般采用电阻链分压供电模式和多路分立供电模式,在低通量X射线下测量时区别不大,但是在高通量X射线时,电阻链分压供电模式会带来饱和效应引起工作电压的变化,造成探测器工作不稳定。本研究在高通量X射线照射下,研究了有效面积为100 mm×100 mm三层级联GEM探测器的有效增益(稳定性)与不同高压供电模式的关系。通过测量不同分压电阻值(1,2,5到30 M?)的实验研究,发现随着X射线通量的增加,在电阻链分压供电模式下,出现了GEM探测器感应电极的读出电流饱和趋势,分析了可能导致饱和效应出现的原因。结果表明,当入射X射线在探测器上的有效吸收剂量不断增加时,电阻链供电模式需要调整分压单元电阻值,或者采用多路分立供电模式,从而避免因饱和效应引起的GEM探测器有效增益的变化,实现探测器稳定的工作状态。

Beam test of a one-dimensional position sensitive chamber on synchrotron radiation

A one-dimensional single-wire chamber was developed to provide high position resolution for powder difraction experiments with synchrotron radiation.A difraction test using the sample of SiO2has been accomplished at 1W2B laboratory of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Source.The data of the beam test were analyzed and some difraction angles were obtained.The experimental results were in good agreement with standard data from ICDD powder difraction file.The precision of difraction angles was 1% to 4.7%.Most of the relative errors between measured values of difraction angles and existing data were less than 1%.As for the detector,the best position resolution in the test was 138 μm(σ value) with an X-ray tube.Finally,discussions of the results were given.The major factor that afected the precision of measurement was deviation from the flat structure of the detector.The efect was analyzed and the conclusion was reached that it would be the optimal measurement scheme when the distance between the powder sample and detector was from 400 mm to 600 mm.

A hybrid structure gaseous detector for ion backflow suppression

A new concept for a hybrid structure gaseous detector module with ion backflow suppression for the time projection chamber in a future circular collider is presented.It is a hybrid structure cascaded Gas Electron Multiplier(GEM) with a Micromegas detector.Both Micromegas and GEM have the capability to naturally reduce most of the ions produced in the amplification region.The GEM also acts as the preamplifer device and increases gas gain together with the Micromegas.Feasibility tests of the hybrid detector are performed using an ^(55)Fe X-ray source.The energy resolution is better than 27% for 5.9 keV X-rays.It is demonstrated that a backflow ratio better than 0.2% can be reached in the hybrid readout structure at a gain of 5000.

高增益型气体电子倍增微网结构探测器的性能研究

随着微结构气体探测器的不断发展,不同的探测需求相继提出.为了实现气体探测器在高增益和低打火率的条件下长时间稳定工作,结合气体电子倍增器(GEM)与微网结构气体探测器(MicroMegas)的探测优势,成功研制出一种基于GEM作为预放大的MicroMegas探测器,详细介绍了探测器结构和工作原理,并利用55Fe放射源对探测器增益、打火率、能量分辨和工作稳定性等性能进行了实验测量.分析结果显示GEM-MicroMegas探测器可以连续工作30h以上,探测器增益可以超过106,相对于无GEM膜的MicroMegas探测器,相同增益下打火率可以降低近100倍.

一维丝室气体探测器衍射像差的修正方法研究

一维位置灵敏单丝气体探测器采用单根镀金钨丝和200根阴极感应条的探测结构,X射线在阳极丝上产生的信号被多个阴极条感应,利用重心法得到X射线的原初电离点的位置信息,位置分辨率达到160μm(半高全宽).在同步辐射衍射实验中,X射线通过样品后会形成不同大小的衍射环,本实验中测量得到11.148°和14.201°的两组衍射角位置信息;通过平行移动一维探测器在衍射环范围内多次扫描,可以重建得到二维衍射环.由于一维探测器的气体厚度和入射窗宽度会给测量结果带来像差,分析发现像差的影响大于一维探测器的位置分辨.基于相应的物理分析对测量到的衍射位置进行修正,修正后的衍射位置相比修正前的衍射位置的相对像差最大改善达到7%,该方法实现了无像差二维衍射环的重建.
