FINITE DEFORMATION OF A CLASS OF RECTANGULAR RUBBER RINGS SUBJECTED TO END AXIAL LOADS被引量:2

The problem of finite deformation of an incompressible rectangular rubber ring with an internal rigid body, where the ring is subjected to equal axial loads at its two ends, is examined. A reasonable mathematical model is formulated by using the nonlinear field theory and the implicit analytical solutions are derived. Then numerical simulations are implemented to further illustrate the results and obtain some meaningful conclusions. The deformation of the lateral surface of the ring becomes larger with the increasing axial loads, the decreasing ratio of the inner and outer radii and the increasing height of the ring.

Some qualitative properties of incompressible hyperelastic spherical membranes under dynamic loads

Some nonlinear dynamic properties of axisymmetric deformation are ex- amined for a spherical membrane composed of a transversely isotropic incompressible Rivlin-Saunders material. The membrane is subjected to periodic step loads at its inner and outer surfaces. A second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation approximately describing radially symmetric motion of the membrane is obtained by setting the thick- ness of the spherical structure close to one. The qualitative properties of the solutions are discussed in detail. In particular, the conditions that control the nonlinear periodic oscillation of the spherical membrane are proposed. In certain cases, it is proved that the oscillating form of the spherical membrane would present a homoclinic orbit of type "∞", and the amplitude growth of the periodic oscillation is discontinuous. Numerical results are provided.

Dynamic cavitations in incompressible hyperelastic pre-strained circular sheets被引量:1

A class of dynamic cavitations is examined for an isotropic incompressible hyperelastic circular sheet under a pre-strained state caused by an initially applied finite radial tension.The solutions that describe the radially symmetric motion of the pre-strained sheet are obtained.The conditions of cavitated bifurcation that describe cavity formation and motion with time at the axial line of the pre-strained sheet are proposed,that is to say,a circular cavity will form if the suddenly applied radial tensile load exceeds a certain critical value;dynamically,it is proved that the formed cavity will present a nonlinearly periodic oscillation,which is essentially different from the singular periodic oscillation of the formed cavity in an incompressible hyperelastic solid sphere.Numerical simulations show the effects of prescribed radial tension,material parameter and tensile load on critical ten-sile load describing cavity formation and periodic oscillation of the pre-strained circular sheet.

In this paper, the dynamic characteristics are examined for a cylindrical membrane composed of a transversely isotropic incompressible hyperelastic material under an applied uniform radial constant pressure at its inner surface. A second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation that approximately describes the radial oscillation of the inner surface of the membrane with respect to time is obtained. Some interesting conclusions are proposed for different materials, such as the neo-Hookean material, the Mooney-Rivlin material and the Rivlin-Saunders material. Firstly, the bifurcation conditions depending on the material parameters and the pressure loads are determined. Secondly, the conditions of periodic motion are presented in detail for membranes composed of different materials. Meanwhile, numerical simulations are also provided.

Deformation analysis of an incompressible composite cylindrical tube subjected to end axial loads and internal constraint被引量:1

In this paper,the problem of axially symmetric deformation is examined for a composite cylindrical tube under equal axial loads acting on its two ends,where the tube is composed of two different incompressible neo-Hookean materials.Significantly,the implicit analytical solutions describing the deformation of the tube are proposed.Numerical simulations are given to further illustrate the qualitative properties of the solutions and some meaningful conclusions are obtained.In the tension case,with the increasing axial loads or with the decreasing ratio of shear moduli of the outer and the inner materials,it is proved that the tube will shrink more along the radial direction and will extend more along the axial direction.Under either tension or compression,the deformation along the axial direction is obvious near the two ends of the tube,while in the rest,the change is relatively small.Similarly,for a large domain of the middle part,the axial elongation is almost constant;however,the variation is very fast near the two ends.In addition,the absolute value of the axial displacement increases gradually from the central cross-section of the tube and achieves the maximum at the two endpoints.

Stability analysis of radial inflation of incompressible compositerubber tubes被引量:2

The inflation mechanism is examined for a composite cylindrical tube composed of two incompressible rubber materials, and the inner surface of the tube is subjected to a suddenly applied radial pressure. The mathematical model of the problem is formulated, and the corresponding governing equation is reduced to a second-order ordinary differential equation by means of the incompressible condition of the material, the boundary conditions, and the continuity conditions of the radial displacement and the radial stress of the cylindrical tube. Moreover, the first integral of the equation is obtained. The qualitative analyses of static inflation and dynamic inflation of the tube are presented. Particularly, the effects of material parameters, structure parameters, and the radial pressure on radial inflation and nonlinearly periodic oscillation of the tube are discussed by combining numerical examples.
