Hyperchaos-chaos-Hyperchaos Transition in a Class of On-Off Intermittent Systems Driven by a Family of Generalized Lorenz Systems

Blowout bifurcation in nonlinear systems occurs when a chaotic attractor lying in some symmetric subspace becomes transversely unstable. A class of five-dimensional continuous autonomous systems is considered, in which a two-dimensional subsystem is driven by a family of generalized Lorenz systems. The systems have some common dynamical characters. As the coupling parameter changes, blowout bifurcations occur in these systems and brings on change of the systems' dynamics. After the bifurcation the phenomenon of on-off intermittency appears. It is observed that the systems undergo a symmetric hyperchaos-chaos-hyperchaos transition via or after blowout bifurcations. An example of the systems is given, in which the drive system is the Chen system. We investigate the dynamical behaviour before and after the blowout bifurcation in the systems and make an analysis of the transition process. It is shown that in such coupled chaotic continuous systems, blowout bifurcation leads to a transition from chaos to hyperchaos for the whole systems, which provides a route to hyperchaos.

Local bifurcation analysis of a four-dimensional hyperchaotic system被引量:11

Local bifurcation phenomena in a four-dlmensional continuous hyperchaotic system, which has rich and complex dynamical behaviours, are analysed. The local bifurcations of the system are investigated by utilizing the bifurcation theory and the centre manifold theorem, and thus the conditions of the existence of pitchfork bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation are derived in detail. Numerical simulations are presented to verify the theoretical analysis, and they show some interesting dynamics, including stable periodic orbits emerging from the new fixed points generated by pitchfork bifurcation, coexistence of a stable limit cycle and a chaotic attractor, as well as chaos within quite a wide parameter region.

Circuit implementation and multiform intermittency in a hyper-chaotic model extended from the Lorenz system被引量:1

This paper presents a non-autonomous hyper-chaotic system, which is formed by adding a periodic driving signal to a four-dimensional chaotic model extended from the Lorenz system. The resulting non-autonomous hyper-chaotic system can display any dynamic behaviour among the periodic orbits, intermittency, chaos and hyper-chaos by controlling the frequency of the periodic signal. The phenomenon has been well demonstrated by numerical simulations, bifurcation analysis and electronic circuit realization. Moreover, the system is concrete evidence for the presence of Pomeau- Manneville Type-I intermittency and crisis-induced intermittency. The emergence of a different type of intermittency is similarly subjected to the frequency of periodic forcing. By statistical analysis, power scaling laws consisting in different intermittency are obtained for the lifetime in the laminar state between burst states.

Implementation of LT codes based on chaos

Fountain codes provide an efficient way to transfer information over erasure channels like the Internet. LT codes are the first codes fully realizing the digital fountain concept. They are asymptotically optimal rateless erasure codes with highly efficient encoding and decoding algorithms. In theory, for each encoding symbol of LT codes, its degree is randomly chosen according to a predetermined degree distribution, and its neighbours used to generate that encoding symbol are chosen uniformly at random. Practical implementation of LT codes usually realizes the randomness through pseudo-randomness number generator like linear congruential method. This paper applies the pseudo-randomness of chaotic sequence in the implementation of LT codes. Two Kent chaotic maps are used to determine the degree and neighbour(s) of each encoding symbol. It is shown that the implemented LT codes based on chaos perform better than the LT codes implemented by the traditional pseudo-randomness number generator.

Analysis of two-torus in a new four-dimensional autonomous system

In this paper, we report the dynamical behaviours of a four-dimenslonal autonomous continuous dissipative system analysed when the parameter is varied in the range we are interested in. The system changes its dynamical modes between periodic motion and quasiperiodic motion. Furthermore, the existence of two-torus is investigated numerically by means of Lyapunov exponents. By taking advantage of phase portraits and Poincaré sections, two types of the two-torus are observed and proved to have the structure of ring torus and horn torus, both of which are known to be the standard tori.

This paper presents a new 3D quadratic autonomous chaotic system which contains five system parameters and three quadratic cross-product terms,and the system can generate a single four-wing chaotic attractor with wide parameter ranges. Through theoretical analysis,the Hopf bifurcation processes are proved to arise at certain equilibrium points.Numerical bifurcation analysis shows that the system has many interesting complex dynamical behaviours;the system trajectory can evolve to a chaotic attractor from a periodic orbit or a fixed point as the proper parameter varies. Finally,an analog electronic circuit is designed to physically realize the chaotic system;the existence of four-wing chaotic attractor is verified by the analog circuit realization.

A novel one equilibrium hyper-chaotic system generated upon Lü attractor被引量:4

By introducing an additional state feedback into a three-dimensional autonomous chaotic attractor Lü system, this paper presents a novel four-dimensional continuous autonomous hyper-chaotic system which has only one equilibrium. There are only 8 terms in all four equations of the new hyper-chaotic system, which may be less than any other four-dimensional continuous autonomous hyper-chaotic systems generated by three-dimensional (3D) continuous autonomous chaotic systems. The hyper-chaotic system undergoes Hopf bifurcation when parameter c varies, and becomes the 3D modified Lü system when parameter k varies. Although the hyper-chaotic system does not undergo Hopf bifurcation when parameter k varies, many dynamic behaviours such as periodic attractor, quasi periodic attractor, chaotic attractor and hyper-chaotic attractor can be observed. A circuit is also designed when parameter k varies and the results of the circuit experiment are in good agreement with those of simulation.

Pinning weighted complex networks with heterogeneous delays by a small number of feedback controllers被引量:9

Weighted complex dynamical networks with heterogeneous delays in both continuous-time and discrete-time domains are controlled by applying local feedback injections to a small fraction of network nodes. Some generic stability criteria ensuring delay-independent stability are derived for such controlled networks in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which guarantee that by placing a small number of feedback controllers on some nodes the whole network can be pinned to some desired homogenous states. In some particular cases, a single controller can achieve the control objective. It is found that stabilization of such pinned networks is completely determined by the dynamics of the individual uncoupled node, the overall coupling strength, the inner-coupling matrix, and the smallest eigenvalue of the coupling and control matrix. Numerical simulations of a weighted network composing of a 3-dimensional nonlinear system are finally given for illustration and verification.
