Combinatorial peptide libraries have become powerful tools to screen functional ligands by the principle of affinity selection. We screened in a phage peptide library to investigate potential peptide affinity ligands for the purification of human granulocyte colonystimulation factor(hGCSF). Peptide ligands will be promising to replace monoclonal antibodies as they have advantages of high stability, efficiency, selectivity and low price.
Luminescent quantum dots(QDs) are a promising alternative to organic dyes for fluorescence-based applications. Filamentous phage was labeled with QDs and its infective capability is observed after labeling. The experimental result shows that the labeling phage can still infect E.coli K91 normally. We have also developed the procedures for using QDs to label CHO-IR cells and Mouse Kidney tissue slice. The tissue slice remained stably labeled for over 10 d and the cells remained stably labeled even for over 5 months.
Luminescent quantum dots(QDs) are a promising alternative to organic dyes for biomedical assays and imaging. A new conjugation method, NHS mediated conjugating, for QDs and BSA was introduced. The QDs-BSA conjugates were confirmed, and their stability has been proved. Caenorhabditis elegans( C, elegans) were used as animal models, and the imaging of QDs in the organism was studied.
