Sea surface temperature and salinity reconstruction based on stable isotopes and Mg/Ca of planktonic foraminifera in the western Pacific Warm Pool during the last 155 ka被引量:4

Changes in sea surface temperature(SST), seawater oxygen isotope(δ 18 O sw), and local salinity proxy(δ 18 O sw-ss) in the past 155 ka were studied using a sediment core(MD06-3052) from the northern edge of the western Pacifi c Warm Pool(WPWP), within the fl ow path of the bifurcation of the North Equatorial Current. Our records reveal a lead-lag relationship between paired Mg/Ca-SST and δ 18 O during Termination II and the last interglacial period. Similarity in SST between our site and the Antarctic temperature proxy and in CO 2 profi le showed a close connection between the WPWP and the Antarctic. Values of δ 18 O sw exhibited very similar variations to those of mean ocean δ 18 O sw, owing to the past sea-level changes on glacial-interglacial timescale. Calculated values of δ 18 O sw-ss refl ect a more saline condition during high local summer insolation(SI) periods. Such correspondence between δ 18 O sw-ss and local SI in the WPWP may refl ect complex interaction between ENSO and monsoon, which was stimulated by changes in solar irradiance and their infl uence on the local hydrologic cycle. This then caused a striking reorganization of atmospheric circulation over the WPWP.

Response of the northwestern Pacific upper water δ^(13)C to the last deglacial ventilation of the deep Southern Ocean被引量:5

The deglacial δ~13C minimum events that originated from the ventilation of the deep Southern Ocean around Antarctica, have been recorded in a range of marine sediments from the southern to tropical oceans in late Pleistocene. However, the broad δ~13C minimum event was also reported as far as to the northern middle latitudes, in northwestern Pacific marginal sea areas, during the last deglaciation. In the northwestern Pacific, forcing from the northern high latitudes is strongly expressed, while the records of in- fluence from the southern high latitudes are few. The Kuroshio Source Region (KSR) forms a boundary between the northwestern Pacific and the southern, tropical Pacific. So, high-resolution planktonic foraminiferal records in core MD06-3054 from the KSR are well positioned to identify signals from the southern hemisphere in the northwestern Pacific. Planktonic foraminiferal tests from the upper 1030 cm of the core were subject to AMS14C, carbon and oxygen isotopic measurements. A negative excursion was found to occur from about 20.0-6.0 ka BP in δ~13C records of both surface (Globigerinoides ruber) and subsurface (Pulleni- atina obliquiloculata) dwellers, but the overall trends of the two curves have reversed since 26.5 ka BP. Moreover, the δ~13C rec- ord of G. ruber (the surface dweller) shows a robust link to the record of atmospheric CO2, and its changes precede the records of P. obliquiloculata (the subsurface dweller). According to the hydrologic conditions, the broad δ~13C minimum event recorded in the KSR is also a response to the increasing ventilation of the deep Southern Ocean around Antarctica during the last deglaciation. The inconsistency between the records of the surface and subsurface dwellers was possibly caused by the ways that the low δ~13C signal was transmitted. Subsurface water primarily received the low δ~13C signal from the Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW), whereas the surface water was probably mainly impacted by atmospheric CO2 in the KSR. 赤道西太平洋翁通爪哇海台西南部25万年以来的火山活动:来自沉积物元素地球化学的证据被引量:1

赤道西太平洋作为全球变化关键海区,其沉积物组成对揭示古海洋、古环境变化具有重要意义.本文利用元素地球化学分析方法,对赤道西太平洋翁通爪哇海台WP7站位(3°56′S,156°00′E)柱状沉积物进行了研究.结果显示元素Al、Na、K、Be、Ga、Rb、Zr、Nb、Cs、Ce、Hf、Ta、Th、Fe和Mg经Ti标准化后,无法用单独的碎屑物质来源解释,而是分别同偏酸性和偏基性火山灰相关,指示了249.5ka以来,共发生了4次偏酸性火山灰输入(2.5~6.4ka、57.0~61.2ka、79.7~88.4ka和193.7~249.5ka)和4次偏基性火山灰输入(19.8~24.4ka、50.0~62.6ka、143.2~150.5ka和160.8~171.1ka).火山灰的输入使沉积物元素地球化学组成发生了相应变化,也使沉积物中碳酸钙产生了稀释效应,从而沉积物颜色相应加深,沉积速率显著提高.

高有机质输入对底栖有孔虫的抑制作用--以西北太平洋菲律宾海MD06-3054孔为例被引量:3

底栖有孔虫古生产力指标—底栖有孔虫堆积速率(Benthic Foraminiiera Accumulation Rate,简称BFAR)和小泡虫超科的Uvigetina与Bulimina两属在种群中的百分含量(简称"U+B含量")是目前古海洋学研究的常用方法。然而,从MD06-3054孔的记录中发现,两指标与有机质输入之间不仅不存在很好的线性关系。而且当有机质输入大于阀值时,两指标均随沉积物中总有机碳(Total Organic Carbon,简称TOC)含量的增加而明显地降低,说明过高有机质的输入还会抑制底栖有孔虫的生长和繁盛。另外,还发现当TOC含量较高时,U+B含量指标较BFAR指标相对更适用。

西菲律宾海第四纪钙质超微化石及微玻陨石地层学被引量:4

对西菲律宾海MD06-3047和MD06-3050两个柱状样第四纪沉积物进行了钙质超微化石和微玻陨石分析.经过鉴定统计,识别出自2.36Ma以来的7个钙质超微化石地层学事件,分别是Discoaster brouweri的末现、Calcidiscus macintyrei的末现、Large Gephyrocapsa的初现、Large Gephyrocapsa的末现、Pseudoemiliania lacunosa的末现、Gephyrocapsa caribbeanica的快速增长、以及Emiliania huxleyi的初现.同时,在MD06-3050柱状样岩芯1340~1374cm层位发现大量微玻陨石.通过氧同位素年代曲线对比,得出这些钙质超微化石生物学事件和微玻陨石事件的年龄.

西北太平洋MD06-3054孔浮游有孔虫表层海水温度估算

在古海洋学研究中,常用浮游有孔虫来恢复表层海水温度(SST),然而基于浮游有孔虫恢复SST的这些方法之间存在一定的差异。为了说明各方法的特点,在浮游有孔虫鉴定和浮游有孔虫表层种Globigerinoides ruberMg/Ca比值测试的基础上,分别利用转换函数FP12-E,现代类比(Modern Analog Technique,MAT)和Mg/Ca比值法对西北太平洋北赤道流分叉处MD06-3054孔中记录的末次冰期以来的SST进行了估算。分析发现:(1)转换函数FP12-E不适用于该孔;(2)该孔中MAT法估算的末次冰期到冰后期SST的变化小于Mg/Ca比值法得到的结果;(3)考虑到浮游有孔虫产量的季节变化,Mg/Ca比值法得到的SSTMg/Ca末次冰期到冰后期的变化可能偏大。尽管如此,相对于MAT等古生态学方法,Mg/Ca比值法受到的影响因素更少,若能对浮游有孔虫的季节产量等方面加以校正,将会得到更准确的结果。

Calcareous nannofossil bioevents and microtektite stratigraphy in the Western Philippine Sea during the Quaternary被引量:3

Two sediment cores, MD06-3050 and MD06-3047, were analyzed to study the Quaternary calcareous nannofossil and microtektite records. We dated bioevents and the microtektite impact event by calibrating with oxygen isotope stratigraphy. Seven calcareous nannofossil bioevents were identified over the past 2.36 Ma including the last appearance of data for Discoaster brouweri, Calcidiscus macintyrei, large Gephyrocapsa and Pseudoemiliania lacunosa, the first appearance of data for large Gephyrocapsa and Emiliania huxleyi, and the abrupt increase in the abundance of Gephyrocapsa caribbeanica. In addition, we fortunately observed that Australasian microtektites were distributed in core MD06-3050 from 1340 to 1374 cm.

西北太平洋上层水δ13C对末次冰消期南大洋深层水对流的响应被引量:1

晚更新世以来,源自南大洋深层水对流的冰消期δ13C低值事件广泛记录于低纬热带和南半球大洋沉积物中.然而,末次冰消期δ13C宽幅低值事件也出现在远至北半球中纬度的西北太平洋边缘海区.在西北太平洋的古海洋记录中,受来自北半球高纬度地区影响的记录很多,而来自南半球高纬度地区的却很少.黑潮源区连接着西北太平洋与热带-南太平洋,该区MD06-3054孔高分辨率的浮游有孔虫记录有助于探明南半球对西北太平洋地区的影响.对该孔上部1030cm岩芯中浮游有孔虫进行了AMS14C年代和氧碳同位素的测试,结果发现浮游有孔虫表层种Globigerinoides ruber和次表层种Pulleniatinaobliquiloculata两种的δ13C记录在约20.0~6.0ka BP都出现明显的负偏移,但26.5ka BP以来表层种与次表层种δ13C记录变化的整体趋势相反.而且,表层种记录与大气CO2记录之间有着紧密的联系,其变化在时间上也明显超前于次表层种.黑潮源区的水文状况分析显示,该区末次冰消期δ13C宽幅低值事件是对南极周围南极深层水对流的响应.而表层和次表层种记录之间的差异可能是由于δ13C低值信号传播路径的不同.末次冰消期黑潮源区次表层水体接收到的δ13C低值信号主要来自南极中层水的传播,而表层水体则可能更多地受到大气CO2的影响.黑潮源区的记录不仅证实了冲绳海槽表层水末次冰消期δ13C宽幅低值事件主要是受西太平洋表层水体直接影响的推论,同时还说明来自南极高纬度地区的信号也可以传送到北半球中纬度地区.

Paleoproductivity evolution in the West Philippine Sea during the last 700 ka被引量:2

In order to reconstruct the paleoproductivity evolution history of the West Philippine Sea during the last 700 ka,the vertical gradient of δ 13 C in dissolved inorganic carbon(δ 13 C between those of foraminifera Pulleniatina obliquiloculata and Cibicidoides wuellerstorfi) and planktonic foraminiferal assemblages were analysed in piston Core MD06-3047 retrieved from the Benham Rise(east of the Luzon Island).Paleoproductivity evolution in the West Philippine Sea during the last 700 ka is closely related to glacial-interglacial cycles and precession-controlled insolation.Controlling factors of paleoproductivity could have been both thermocline fluctuations related with ENSO-like processes and eolian input associated with East Asian winter monsoon,and the former could have been the primary factor.A higher productivity and a shallower thermocline coeval with the occurrence of low CO 2 concentrations in the EPICA Dome C ice core might indicate that biological export production in the low-latitude could act as a significant sink in the global carbon cycle,and modify atmospheric CO 2 concentrations.Spectral analysis further reveals that the paleoproductivity is mainly controlled by thermocline fluctuations subjected to ENSO processes responding to processional variability of insolation.High coherences in eccentricity,obliquity and precession periods further revealing the close link between thermocline fluctuations,paleoproductivity and atmospheric CO 2 levels.

Redox conditions in sediments and during sedimentation in the Ontong Java Plateau,west equatorial Pacific被引量:1

Redox-sensitive elements in sediments, such as manganese (Mn), vanadium (V), molybdenum (Mo), and uranium (U), are promising indicators of past redox conditions during sedimentation and early diagenesis. However, in the Ontong Java Plateau, west equatorial Pacific, there are sparse datasets of redox-sensitive elements in sediment cores. Here, we present a 250 ka record of redox sensitive elements from a 460 cm gravity core at site WP7 (3°56′S, 156°E, water depth 1 800 m), which was recovered from the southwest Ontong Java Plateau during the 1993 cruise of R/V Science I of the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS). Relative to the Post-Archean Australian Shale (PAAS), authigenic Mn, cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), Mo, V, U, and cadmium (Cd) were found at constantly low levels except when peaks occurred at several depth intervals. Manganese, Co, Ni, and Mo concentrations were elevated at 25-35 cm due to Mn redox cycling. The core was divided into three distinct sections, the top 0-25 cm being oxic, a suboxic section at 25-35 cm and from 35-460 cm which was anoxic. Differential authigenic enrichments of Co, Ni, Mo, V, U, and Cd at the same depth intervals were observed indicating that the enrichments happened during sedimentation or diagenesis and suffered no post settlement redox changes. Therefore, no significant changes in redox conditions during sedimentation must have happened. The water at depth on the Ontong Java Plateau during past 250 ka must have been well oxygenated, possibly resulted from the more or less continuous presence of oxygen-rich deep water like the modern Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW) and Antarctic Circumpolar Water (ACW); while it's slightly less oxygenated in glacial intervals, possibly due to ventilation weakening and/or the surface productivity increase.
