Growth, structural, spectral and high-power continuous-wave laser operation of Yb0.11Gd0.89COB crystal

A Yb_(0.11)Gd_(0.89)Ca_4O(BO_3)_3 crystal with new composition was grown by the Czochralski method. The crystal structure was measured and analyzed. The unit-cell parameters of the Yb_(0.11)Gd_(0.89)COB were calculated to be a=0.8089(7) nm, b=1.5987(6) nm, c=0.3545(8) nm, β=101.22o. The absorption and fluorescence spectra were measured. The maximum absorption cross-section of Yb_(0.11)Gd_(0.89) COB crystal was 0.79×10^(–20)cm^2, which occurred at 976 nm with Y polarization. The emission cross-section at 1027 nm was calculated to be 0.33×10^(–20) cm^2. The radiative lifetime trad was calculated to be 2.74 ms. The Stark energy-level diagram of Yb^(3+)in the Yb_(0.11)Gd_(0.89)COB crystal field at room temperature was determined. The ground-state energy level ~2F_(7/2) splitting was calculated to be as large as 1004 cm^(–1) and the zero-line energy was 10246 cm^(–1). A maximum output power of 9.35 W was achieved in continuous-wave(CW) mode, with the slope efficiency being 42.1%. Chemical etching experiment revealed that the dominating imperfections in the studied Yb_(0.11)Gd_(0.89) COB crystal were dislocations and sub-grain boundaries. The existence of crystal defects could cause light scattering, and degrade laser output efficiency. The influence of crystal defects on laser properties was discussed.

Yb:YxLu1-xVO4混合激光晶体中的缺陷研究被引量:2

采用提拉法生长出了Yb:YxLu1-xVO4混合晶体,XRD测试发现该晶体具有四方Zr Si O4结构,经计算晶胞常数为a=b=0.7126(2)nm,c=0.6259(7)nm。利用化学腐蚀法和同步辐射X射线形貌术,分析了晶体中的缺陷,发现位错和小角度晶界是晶体中的两种主要缺陷。利用Read-Shockley公式计算分析了晶体中的转向小角度晶界,发现Yb:YxLu1-xVO4晶体中存在伯格斯矢量为[100]的位错。分析了晶体中位错和小角度晶界的形成原因,认为晶体生长和退火过程中的温度波动容易在Yb:YxLu1-xVO4晶体内部引起局部晶格畸变,诱发位错和小角度晶界的产生,因此混合晶体生长过程需要更精确控制。

ADP晶体的全方位生长方法研究(英文)

采用一种全新的ADP晶体生长方法,使晶体首先恢复其理想外形,实现晶体的全方位生长,从而提高晶体的生长速度。并对所得晶体进行了透过率,激光散射,摇摆曲线测试及热重差热分析,与常规生长方法比较并分析了全方位生长方法的优势。

Yb_(0.005)Y_(0.708)Lu_(0.287)VO_4混晶的生长和材料性质(英文)

采用提拉法生长出Yb0.005Y0.708Lu0.287VO4晶体。在室温下,对Yb0.005Y0.708Lu0.287VO4晶体进行了XRPD测试,计算了晶格常数(a=b=0.7091 nm,c=0.6273 nm)和密度(4.826 g/cm3)。对混晶的(100)面进行了腐蚀,腐蚀坑呈四棱锥形状。平均线膨胀系数α1=1.285×10-6K-1,α3=7.030×10-6K-1,温度在330.15 K和570.15 K之间变化时,比热为0.494~0.617J/g·K。

Effect of OH^- on fluorescence properties in 1.5-1.6 μm for Er:Yb:YCOB crystal

FTIR absorption spectra indicate that H^+can easily enter the crystal structure and form OH^-centers in Er:Yb:YCOB and O-H bonds prefer to lie in the a-c plane.Within our current studied concentration level,crystal samples with higher OH-abso rption coefficie nts demonstrate stro nger fluo rescence intensity and longer fluorescence lifetime at 1535 nm.As the stretching vibration energy of OH-group approximately corresponds to the energy gap between the 4 I11/2 and 4 I13/2 levels of Er^3+,and thus,OH^-ions can shorten the fluorescence lifetime of Er^3+-4I11/2 level by the phonon-assisted cross-relaxation process between the Er^3+and OH-ions.Our curre nt results confirm that a certain conte nt of OH ions can enhance the ene rgy transfer process from Yb^3+to Er^3+and subsequently promote fluorescence output in 1.5-1.6μm.

Nd:YVO_4激光晶体对808nm附近光的吸收特性(英文)被引量:2

研究了Nd:YVO_4激光晶体对808 nm附近光的吸收,定量给出了不同激活粒子浓度与其吸收808 nm光的关系.在测试晶体透过率基础上,通过计算,给出了Nd:YVO_4晶体808 nm波长光的吸收系数。实验得出了在确定浓度和长度的情况下,晶体对808 nm泵浦光吸收系数是一个不与泵浦源功率相关的确定值.计算了π和σ两偏振吸收,比较出它们之间的关系.
