An efficient and convenient procedure of the synthesis of 1,1-diacetates from aromatic aldehydes and acetic anhydride under mild and solvent-free conditions at room temperature,in the presence of PEG-SO_3H is reported.PEG-SO_3H acts as a catalyst and can be recovered and reused eight times without apparent loss of its catalytic activity.

A catalytic synthesis of N-benzothiazol-2-yl-amides from 1-acyl-3-(phenyl)thioureas was achieved in the presence of a palladium catalyst through the C(sp2)–H functionalization/C–S bond formation. This synthetic methodology can produce various N-benzothiazol-2-yl-amides in high yields with good functional group tolerance.
