MPEG-7 is an ISO/IEC standard developed by MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group), MPEG-7,formally named "Multimedia Content Description Interface", aims to create a standard for describing the multimedia content data. In this paper,firstly we introduce the context of MPEG-7,MPEG-7 objectives and parts. Then we analyze the MPEG-7 eXperimentation Model(XM) reference software, including application types,software models and the implementation of descriptors and description schemes. Finally we discuss the possible application of MPEG-7 in AVTMS.
