In view of the current obstetric service in the ShangHai and adjacent areas and expectant demand for fine childbirth service in hospitals, this article probes into the possible ways of changing the present mode of service and puts forth the suggestion on setting up a" mother-friendly childbirth service with lying-in woman as the center.
