Cataloging efficiently is one of the strategic goals of libraries,as the contemporary cataloging theory and practice are facing challenges in the Internet environment.By analyzing the procedures and conclusions of CC:DA in the evaluation of ordinary metadata as a source of cataloging,this essay points out that the integration of ordinary metadata with the library’s controlled cataloging system is the key of the solution.
Based on a comprehensive exposition of the development history of Dublin Core,the definitions of the elements and its role,the paper analyzes the application status of Dublin Core,its standardization construction,etc.,and makes some comments and suggestions.
