This paper presents the experimental investigation of SERS spectra of thecorrosion-inhibiting properties of 2-aminobenzimidazole and 6-nitrobenzimidazole on thecopper electrode. The result suggests that the two molecules, except the loss of portons, are nondissociatively chendsorbed on copper and that adsorption occurs solely throughinteraction of the introgen atom with the copper substrate in the bodazole moiety. Theirdifferent abillties to act as corrosion inhibitors axe discussed from the viewpoint of thecyclic voltanunogram and the structu-ral information obtained from SERS. An adsorptionprocess for the molecules on the copper surface is also discussed.
