Vocabulary teaching is important but difficult in language acquisition and teaching.Language teachers aims at finding a way to help learners acquire the meaning of words without so much difficulties.With the appearance of semantic theories,it is easy for us to reveal the veil of vocabulary learning.This paper introduces some theories of semantics and their application in vocabulary acquisition and teaching put forward some suggestions for vocabulary pedagogy and teaching strategies.
