The present paper is an account of a case study of educational action research into Integrated Skills of English which lasted about more than one year. The enquiry focuses on the question how I can motivate my students so that they can be responsible for their own learning, which arose from my classroom teaching practice.Based on the basic theories and approaches, the article records the whole circle of the enquiry, with a highlight of the forming process of action strategies and evaluation. The research not only verifies such basic ideas as being student-centered and learning-centered which characterize the quality education, but it also indicates that this research approach is an efficient way to improve classroom teaching quality as well as teacher’s professional development.
This paper shows how a department in a rural new-University department is making a difference in Basic Education’s New Curriculum programme for the Teaching of English through an implementation of Living Educational Theory Action Research methodology.Through collaboration with departmental colleagues first and then a local Middle School, the authors show how Action Research has enabled them to improve aspects of its Basic Education methodologies in order to improve learning. They provide triangulated evidence of improvements and offer ways in which such projects might be able to be carried out more widely in China in order to enhance the development of education in this developing country.
