Computer- Assisted English Language Learning (CALL) is known to be a fast expanding field and, as one would expect, there have been some important changes since 1978. Probably the most striking difference between the situation now and that of 1978 has to do with the spread of CALL In the first several years CALL was largely confined to some key universities so that those were the only places with real experience to report, computers are now used for language learning purposes in a wide variety of educational establishments.
